POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the assembly, painting, testing, and job management of all finished product according to customer specifications. This role is a key member of the production leadership team and will collaborate with respect and a continual improvement attitude as a leader/manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attract, retain, train, lead and manage all assembly shop employees.
  • Provide positive leadership for all employees, in a manner consistent with the company's vision and values.
  • Maintains good records of organization in job processing, maintenance, personnel, procedures, and safety.
  • Utilize shop equipment and personnel to their full capacity.
  • Responsible for managing revenue and margin of jobs through the assembly shop.
  • Responsible for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost of the assembly operations.
  • Key contact for warranty, customer claims, and working with the salesforce to solve customer concerns/issues.
  • Responsible for leading, managing and developing all assembly shop employees.
  • Conduct mid-year, and annual performance reviews with all employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the company and personnel information.
  • Lead and participate in goal setting, planning, and decision making.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings.
  • Ability to allocate overtime as needed to ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Determine productive use of manpower (scheduling).
  • Contribute to the design of manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure safety & quality are built in to all our processes.
  • Lead a positive and winning culture within the assembly shop team.
  • Interface with customers and the salesforce on any warranty claims, concerns, or opportunities.
  • With priority, work with suppliers as needed, to keep machine tools running and avoid downtime.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives to continually improve safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale.
  • Work with the assembly shop to identify and implement cycle time reductions.
  • Work with both the machine shop and assembly shop leadership to drive S,Q,D,C improvements.
  • Lead capital improvement projects as assigned.
  • Complete all estimates for updated repairs on all repair & return customer jobs. Also train buyer/planners on this activity.
  • Provide and continually improve a daily end of shift production report.
  • Key Performance indicators measurable for this role are engine revenue, margin, safety, quality, delivery, cost, and winning culture metrics / morale metrics.

DECISION MAKING:

Position will be required to work with the leadership team and production team to delivery exceptional customer service & quality, provide a safe and positive workplace, and manage financial responsibilities.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Position requires collaboration with other managers and department leads.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Ability to design, innovate, and create process and/or machine improvements.
  • Ability and experience working with suppliers and vendors.
  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and flexible.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related Field
  • High horsepower diesel engine knowledge.
  • Highly skilled mechanic / craftsmen experience.
  • Dyno testing experience and knowledge.
  • Ability to lead & manage people while providing a positive environment that motivates a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
