Job description

Rubber Shop Manager opportunity - This is a great position with a global industrial distribution company. Combine team leadership with service center operations.
In partnership with more than 4,000 world-class manufacturers, we are an industry-leading value-added distributor of a wide variety of innovative, efficient, and reliable industrial products. Since 1923, we have been committed to always having the right part in stock and always getting it to the customer when they need it.
Provides strategic & operational leadership for distribution center shops within the US Service Center network, including the direction of all shop floor personnel, shop customer service, shop facilities, budgets, and activities to meet P&L targets and performance metrics.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Provides leadership for the entire Distribution Center Shop Network, including Shop Team Leaders, Shop Customer Service, and Mechanics (17 Direct Reports).
  • Develops and monitors reporting and exception reporting necessary to improve performance and exceed KPIs / goals, including quality, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, process lead-times, scrap, productivity, and expense. Uses data to ensure decisions and actions are grounded in facts.
  • Manages time cards, vacations, performance goals, performance reviews, training, hiring, and terminations.
  • Develops budget and operational strategies (both short and long-term) for the Shop Network, with a focus on service, productivity, capacity, labor, assets, transportation, and costs.
  • Aligns employee actions with the voice of the customer (internal and external) with consideration for the total cost of production / fulfillment.
  • Drives cost savings and resource / process efficiencies by collaborating with associates, Applied Product Solution Center, the shop network, corporate / sales leadership, service centers and suppliers.
  • Carries out policies and procedures, including the Code of Business Ethics, Supply Chain Operating Principles, and Standards of Work.
  • Champions an environment in which accountability is self-governing, safety is a priority, the laws are adhered to, change is embraced, ideas are actively generated by all employees, wins are celebrated, problems are owned and resolved by those closest to the issue, and teamwork is paramount.
  • Maintains a constant focus on Lean fundamentals and continuous learning to improve performance, quality and efficiency of work processes. Reviews existing processes and implements shop best practices. Conducts regular process audits to ensure standard of work adherence.

Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required; Equivalent to a four-year degree in business management or supply chain preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience in a shop environment required
  • Prior experience leading and managing a team is required
  • Solid computer skills: Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
  • Lean background preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • This position is not eligible for relocation benefits and is expected to be performed on site.
