Job description

This position is currently based at our Anderson, IN location.
Tom Wood Honda is excited to be transitioning to a brand-new dealership facility in Whitestown, IN, (near Zionsville, North Brownsburg, and West Carmel) and is expected to open early 2027.
Team members hired now will have the opportunity to grow with us through this exciting transition.
Position Summary
The Shop Foreman / Technician at Tom Wood Honda is a working leadership role responsible for overseeing daily shop operations while actively performing advanced diagnostics and repairs. This individual serves as the technical leader and coach for the technician team, ensuring quality workmanship, productivity, and adherence to Honda and Tom Wood standards. This role partners closely with the Service Manager to drive efficiency, accountability, and a positive shop culture.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Production Leadership
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and quality control inspections on Honda vehicles.
  • Serve as the technical authority for complex or escalated repair concerns.
  • Ensure all repairs meet Honda factory standards and dealership quality expectations.
  • Support warranty repair accuracy and reduce comebacks through coaching and inspection.

Team Leadership & Coaching
  • Act as a trainer and mentor for technicians at all skill levels, including onboarding new hires.
  • Provide real time guidance, troubleshooting support, and skills development.
  • Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and repair quality.
  • Coach and counsel technicians through verbal or documented performance feedback as needed.

Shop Operations & Accountability
  • Support the Service Manager with daily workflow, job assignments, and shop prioritization.
  • Ensure technician attendance, punctuality, and readiness for scheduled shifts.
  • Promote a clean, safe, and well organized shop environment.
  • Maintain strong communication between technicians, advisors, and service leadership.

Culture & Professional Standards
  • Promote and model Tom Wood Group core values in all interactions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and behavior at all times.
  • Build positive relationships with teammates, vendors, and Honda representatives.
  • Participate in required Honda training and certification programs to remain current.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of automotive technician experience; Honda experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Shop Foreman, Lead Technician, or informal shop leader.
  • Strong diagnostic skills across electrical, drivability, engine, and chassis systems.
  • Proven ability to coach, lead, and influence technicians.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced, highvolume service environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Honda Master Technician or equivalent OEM certifications.
  • Experience working in a flatrate or performancebased shop environment.
  • Strong communication and conflictresolution skills.
  • Desire to grow into broader service leadership responsibilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Familiarity with shop equipment (alignment systems, tire machines, diagnostic tools, AC service equipment)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
