A Brief Summary of This Position

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Skilled Labor position in the Miami, Florida Coatings Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that possesses a good work ethic, positive attitude, and attention to detail.

Location: Miami site

1st shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive working environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout shift
  • Inspect and ensure the safe use and disposition of production fixtures, chains and hooks
  • Pull and place chains and ropes around steel bundles for racking
  • Hand wire small to medium-sized parts to racks for pickling or galvanizing
  • Loads and unloads racks and fixtures to maximize weight without compromising quality
  • Ability to operate pneumatic grinders, pneumatic strappers, acetylene torches, manual strap cutter, banding machine
  • Using files, grinders and/or wire brushes, removes icicles, etc. so material meets specification
  • Follows all recycling procedures i.e. recycling of zinc from rack, aluminum, spray cans, wire and dunnage
  • All other duties as determined by management.
  • Competent at Adhering to Quality Standards
  • Can Recognize how to hang parts correctly
  • Recognizes proper venting
  • Recognizes proper drain placement
  • Knows and is able to use move tag system
  • Can recognize how to hang parts correctly, can recognize proper Vent/Drain, acts as a backup Forklift Driver/Crane Operator, Scale Operator

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:

  • The physical ability to stand and walk duration of shift
  • Must accept cross-training for multiple positions
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • The ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required for business needs the ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • Must follow safety rules and report all accidents and near misses to management.
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent hand and eye coordination with 20/20 corrected vision
  • Has Fork truck Experience and move their own material

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Six months of previous experience with hand tools and gauges including impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, taps, oxygen acetylene torches, and mill gauges
  • Six months of previous experience in a galvanizing, manufacturing, or fabrication environment
