Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and engineering expertise in support of vessel construction and repair projects. This position develops practical, cost-effective electrical engineering solutions while collaborating with engineering, production, project management, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project execution. The Senior Electrical Engineer provides both office-based design support and hands-on shipyard support to verify installations, resolve technical issues, and ensure electrical systems meet project requirements, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
Domestic travel may be required.
Essential Functions
  • Develop, review, and issue quality electrical engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, engineering change notices (ECNs), and other technical documentation.
  • Design and support marine electrical systems for vessel construction and repair projects while ensuring compliance with project requirements, customer specifications, and applicable regulations.
  • Provide engineering support in the shipyard by reviewing electrical installations, verifying work accuracy, resolving field issues, answering production questions, and assisting with testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Coordinate assigned engineering activities with production, project management, vendors, and other engineering disciplines to support project schedules, budgets, and successful vessel delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Required Skills
  • Ability to develop, review, and interpret complex electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and other electrical engineering documentation.
  • Working knowledge of marine electrical systems, shipbuilding practices, and applicable rules and regulations including ABS, USCG, SOLAS, and associated regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Cadmatic, ShipConstructor, EPLAN, ETAP, or similar engineering software, with experience supporting electrical design and analysis.
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
  • Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 6 Years of experience required
  • Six Sigma or LEAN certification preferred
