Summary:
Responsible for developing cost estimates for ship repair projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor support. Works closely with production, engineering, and operations to deliver accurate and competitive estimates across multiple disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret specifications, drawings, and technical data
  • Develop detailed labor, material, and equipment estimates for assigned work scopes
  • Perform takeoffs and build itemized task lists for project execution
  • Evaluate subcontractor requirements and assist with bid solicitations
  • Coordinate with production teams to validate scope, methods, and resource needs
  • Apply practical knowledge of mechanical, structural, and marine systems when developing estimates
  • Analyze project requirements and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in marine estimating, ship repair, or related field experience
  • Strong understanding of shipyard operations, including structural, mechanical, and production processes
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand how systems are built, repaired, installed, and sequenced in a production environment
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents
  • Experience developing labor, material, and equipment estimates
  • Familiarity with subcontractor coordination and bid processes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production teams, vendors, and leadership
