Job description

The Kelly Group is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate for its Lafayette, Indiana, location. This position is responsible for handling incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring accuracy of shipments and maintaining an organized and safe work environment.

This position requires the ability to perform these essential duties:

  • Receive, inspect and verify incoming metal materials, parts and supplies against purchase orders and packing slips
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts, cranes or other material-handling equipment
  • Prepare and package fabricated metal products for shipment, ensuring proper protection and labeling
  • Coordinate outgoing shipments, including staging, banding, wrapping and documentation
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory counts
  • Move materials to and from production areas as needed
  • Identify and report damaged or missing materials
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of heavy and sharp metal materials
  • Work closely with production and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required at times

Other preferred qualifications sought include:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience handling metal materials
  • Previous experience working in fabrication, shipping/receiving, warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience reading and interpreting shipping documents
