Job description

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for the accurate, timely, and efficient preparation and shipment of finished goods in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in supply chain operations by processing orders, preparing shipping documentation, coordinating carrier pickups, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring all outbound shipments meet company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION
1. Documentation: Generate and verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading (BOL), packing slips, shipping labels, and trailer inspection reports to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
2. Logistics Coordination: Schedule and coordinate carrier pickups, track shipments, and communicate with freight carriers, couriers, and third-party providers to ensure on-time delivery. Resolve any discrepancies or delays.
4. Inspection & Accuracy: Verify shipping contents against order forms to ensure accuracy and inspecting items for damage, and resolve discrepancies.
5. System Data Entry & Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of outgoing shipments, update warehouse management systems (WMS), or ERP software, and verify stock levels. Organize inventory for easy retrieval, check for damage, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with shipping group, customer service, and carriers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
7. Time Management: Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet strict daily deadlines.
8. Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety protocols (PPE, OSHA, GMP, SQF).
9. Loading & Moving Goods: Move products from production or storage areas to the shipping dock, frequently operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment. Load and unload shipping trailers as required.
10. Technical Proficiency: Basic knowledge of shipping software, scanners, and Microsoft Office - particularly Excel and Outlook.
11. Physical capability: Comfortable with lifting heavy packages, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in a shipping, warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience working in a high-volume or fast-paced operation is a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)
1. Time Management: Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask and meet daily deadlines.
2. Technical Proficiency: Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and inventory or shipping software. Experience working with WMS or ERP systems preferred.
3. Attention to detail: Ensure accuracy in shipping, labeling, and documentation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Shipping Clerk will work in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to dust, noise, and other hazards associated with a warehouse setting. Constant standing, walking, talking, hearing; occasional sitting; specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision. The position also requires the ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
