The Shipping, Receiving, Inventory Clerk is responsible for the end-to-end management of materials within the facility. This role includes performing tasks related to receiving, processing, and distributing materials; operating stock cutting machines; inspecting and packaging items for shipment; and shipping finished product.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Set-Up and operate stock cutting machines to specified dimensions.
  • Pull and cut material from inventory to fulfill production needs.
  • Scan material into Work-in-Process (WIP) and return material to the Point of Use Racks.
  • Ensure Point of Use racks (including the Wire Pit) are stocked with required materials and fiber; replenish as needed.
  • Fulfill requirements in General Products by inspecting the Pick List Holding Board.
  • Weigh and verify material being returned to inventory using the counting scale and scan back into Raw Materials (RM).
  • Perform cycle counts.Check the daily shipping sheet and ensure items to be shipped are in place.
  • Verify all purchase orders, part numbers, and quantities against shipment items.
  • Pick up product at designated locations and deliver to finished goods or prepare for shipping.
  • Pull approved brushes from Quality Control (QC) if necessary.
  • Create and print labels for proper identification of product. Scale, weigh, seal, and attach labels to cartons.
  • Compare identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments against bills of lading, packing lists, or travelers.
  • Wrapping and double-checking items and counts. Preparing all shipping documents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Weighting all cartons, calculating shipping weight (by pallet or carton), and posting weights/shipping charges; affixing postage. Making arrangements for pick-up by the carrier per customer requirements.
  • Keep an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times, replenishing from the warehouse as needed.
  • Receive incoming product and materials. Compare identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, packing lists, or travelers.
  • Get supplies and finished goods from the warehouse as requested.
  • Proper operation of equipment, including manual and electric pallet jacks, hand trucks, and/or forklift, to convey, move, or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • High school diploma or GED; minimum of six months Material Handling experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have or be able to be trained to obtain a forklift and electric pallet jack certificate or license.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; effective one-on-one and small group communication.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with required forms used by major freight companies.
  • Must be familiar with common material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks).
