Job description

 

Summary / Objective

The Material Handler is the primary Shipping and Receiving employee, responsible for all inbound and outbound material flow, including receiving, kitting, and staging materials for production. This role maintains accurate, real-time inventory records in ECI MAX (MRP) and ensures materials are entered, tracked, and available to support shop order schedules. The Material Handler works closely with the planning team and shop floor staff and is supported as needed, to prioritize orders, resolve inventory discrepancies, and keep materials moving efficiently through the facility.

Essential functions

  • Prepare outgoing shipments, arrange pickup with shipping company
  • Process and kit shop orders
  • Inventory management - Open boxes, receive in, print labels, put away, process paperwork through the system
  • Auditing inventory in real time and cycle count inventory weekly
  • Fix inventory discrepancies as they occur
  • Manage order shortages and get product to employees who need it
  • Palletizing, shrink wrapping
  • Use of forklift and other shipping tools
  • Work with planning team to prioritize shop orders for other inventory support staff

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools as required.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry.
  • Experience with inventory, warehouse, or MRP/ERP software; experience with ECI MAX preferred.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day shipping and receiving functions with general independence, while collaborating with the planning team and other staff as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple kits, orders, and shipments simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to two years related experience and/or training.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
