Your role at a glance
The Shipping and Receiving Security Officer is a key member of the NTT Data Center team, responsible for ensuring the secure and efficient movement of equipment and assets in and out of the facility. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to strict security protocols, and excellent organizational skills. This position will be cross trained in Security Officer responsibilities to assist as needed. The Shipping and Receiving Security Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our data center operations.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all shipping and receiving activities within the data center facility. You will inspect incoming and outgoing shipments, verify their contents, and maintain accurate records. You will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to schedule pickups, deliveries, and returns, ensuring that all transactions are handled promptly and accurately.
As a Shipping and Receiving Security Officer, you will also be responsible for monitoring the security of the shipping and receiving areas. This includes conducting regular inspections, monitoring security cameras and access control systems, and promptly responding to any security issues or breaches. You will collaborate with the data center operations team to integrate new equipment and assets seamlessly.
The role requires a strong understanding of security protocols, procedures, and best practices, as well as familiarity with inventory management systems and shipping software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for coordinating with various stakeholders. Flexibility and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are key, as is the physical fitness to handle the lifting and moving of heavy equipment or packages when necessary.

Your attention to detail, commitment to following protocols, and ability to maintain a secure environment will play a crucial role in safeguarding our valuable assets and ensuring the smooth flow of equipment and supplies in and out of the facility.
What we are looking for
The working schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7am - 3:30pm.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee all shipping and receiving activities within the data center facility, ensuring the accurate and timely movement of equipment, supplies, and assets.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for compliance with established security protocols and procedures.
  • Verify the contents of shipments against packing lists or purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including tracking numbers, delivery dates, and other relevant information.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to schedule pickups, deliveries, and returns.
  • Collaborate with the data center operations team to ensure the smooth integration of new equipment and assets into the facility.
  • Conduct regular inspections of shipping and receiving areas to identify and address any security vulnerabilities or risks.
  • Monitor security cameras and access control systems to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Respond to and resolve any shipping or receiving issues or discrepancies promptly and effectively.
  • Investigates and reports fires, evacuations, hazardous situations and/or other facility related incidents.
  • Responsibilities include crowd control and assisting emergency management departments.
  • Responds to all requests for assistance requested by Security Management; complete various company or client assignments as required.
  • Investigates security incidents, interview witnesses, collect and preserve evidence, and provide detailed reports to management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and training programs related to shipping and receiving operations.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in data center security to enhance existing processes and protocols.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations, preferably within a data center or a high-security environment.
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols, procedures, and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Data Entry.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and shipping software.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle multiple shipments and tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in using security technology such as access control systems and security cameras.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools as necessary.
  • Experience using a forklift.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in security management or related field preferred. Associated degree in related field preferred, or three (3) years of experience related to safety and security as acquired from any combination of: law enforcement, military police or security forces (verified by DD-214) with a focus on data center security, shipping and receiving are acceptable.
  • 2 + year(s) of shipping and receiving experience.
  • Must have experience in the administration and operation of access control systems and CCTV
  • Systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems.
  • Hand and Machine tool experience
  • Forklift operator experience

Physical Requirements
  • Requires ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
  • Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting.
  • Requires an employee to bend, reach and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on a raised platform.

Work Conditions and Other Requirements
  • Typical data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.
  • Extensive daily usage of computers or workstations.
  • Exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors.
  • Exposure to hazardous work environments.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification required.
  • Forklift Certification required.
  • Must carry Security Guard License
  • Must work on-site; no telecommuting permitted.
  • Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations at the data center, maintaining a calm and coherent demeanor at all times.
  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and be part of on-call escalation protocol.
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license.

Compensation Pay Range
This position requires work to be done onsite at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable.
NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Hourly base salary for this position is $21.73 - $31.01 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance to local state and federal 'Wage and Hour' requirements.
All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
