Location:

Primary location: South Windsor, CT
Secondary support location: West Springfield, MA
Most workdays will be based in South Windsor, CT, with scheduled or as-needed support in West Springfield, MA.

Position Summary:

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for supporting daily shipping, receiving, packaging, inventory movement, and customer equipment handling across the South Windsor, CT and West Springfield, MA locations. This role helps ensure customer equipment, parts, supplies, and internal materials are received, documented, routed, packaged, and shipped accurately and on time.

The primary focus of this position is to keep material flow organized, accurate, and efficient so lab operations, customer service, and production teams can meet turnaround time and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive incoming customer equipment, parts, supplies, and materials.
  • Inspect incoming shipments for damage, missing items, or documentation issues.
  • Accurately document received items in the appropriate system or tracking log.
  • Route received equipment and materials to the correct department, technician, or location.
  • Package and prepare outgoing shipments according to company and customer requirements.
  • Create shipping labels, packing slips, and related shipment documentation.
  • Coordinate daily carrier pickups and deliveries.
  • Maintain organized shipping and receiving areas at the South Windsor location.
  • Provide scheduled or as-needed shipping and receiving support for the West Springfield location.
  • Assist with transferring equipment or materials between South Windsor and West Springfield when needed.
  • Communicate shipment issues, delays, damages, or missing information to the appropriate manager or team member.
  • Help maintain accurate tracking of customer equipment from receipt through shipment.
  • Support basic inventory control, material staging, and internal movement of equipment.
  • Follow company procedures for handling customer property and sensitive equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Assist with other operational support tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • Prior shipping, receiving, warehouse, inventory, or logistics experience preferred.
  • Ability to accurately handle paperwork, labels, packing slips, and tracking information.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to lift, move, package, and stage equipment safely.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, data entry, and shipment tracking systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams, carriers, and customers when needed.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to support both South Windsor, CT and West Springfield, MA locations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a calibration lab, manufacturing, aerospace, quality, metrology, or technical service environment.
  • Experience handling customer-owned equipment.
  • Familiarity with UPS, FedEx, DHL, or other shipping platforms.
  • Forklift or pallet jack experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, inventory, or service management systems.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry packages or equipment as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move materials throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely package and move sensitive or customer-owned equipment.
  • Ability to work in warehouse, lab, and office environments.
Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position. The primary work location will be South Windsor, CT, with travel to or support of the West Springfield, MA location as business needs require.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports to the appropriate Operations Manager, Service Manager, or designated site leader.

Success Measures:

Success in this role will be measured by accuracy, organization, on-time shipments, proper routing of received equipment, clean handoffs to the lab and customer service teams, and consistent support of both the South Windsor and West Springfield operations.
