Job description

Shipping Clerks are responsible for the accurate transaction of inventory into shipments to meet customer demands. They are responsible for the handling, packaging, and processing for all items shipping from Goodway to support customer demands and internal projects. Responsibilities include conducting oneself professionally by maintaining punctuality and productivity of assigned shift/work assignments, following all company procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Use of ERP systems for processing shipments, ensuring accurate transactions of inventory
  • Conform to all safe work practices and quality standards, maintaining clean & organized work areas and awareness of workplace layout and surroundings
  • Properly package products and support movement of material and accurate parts inventory
  • Manual/Physical labor lifting heavy items, with standing, walking and climbing of stairs the norm

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    1. H.S. Diploma/GED with experience as a Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse Clerk
    2. Basic computer skills
    3. Good verbal/written communication and organizational skills
  • Preferred:
    1. Lean Manufacturing
    2. Vocational/Technical H.S. Diploma
    3. HAZMAT shipping certifications

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Levels of Proficiency (tracked and managed with Production Manager)

  • Levels build up and are a prerequisite for progression to the next
  • Performance is tracked using a department skills matrix and managed in coordination/approval with Shipping Manager – business needs determine quantity of employees needed at each level
