Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Associate to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for coordinating shipping and receiving operations, maintaining accurate documentation, processing purchase orders, and ensuring products are packaged and shipped according to customer and quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, possess strong organizational skills, and be comfortable working with ERP systems, customer portals, and Microsoft Excel while collaborating with vendors and internal departments.
Job Responsibilities:
* Work under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor to support daily shipping and receiving operations.
* Verify part counts, traveler documentation, and shipping paperwork for accuracy.
* Generate shipping documentation, including vendor instructions and quality notes.
* Create customer-specific shipping labels and required documentation.
* Prepare, package, and ship products according to customer specifications and company quality standards.
* Schedule deliveries using the most appropriate shipping methods and carriers.
* Process shipments and receipts within the manufacturing ERP system while maintaining accurate records.
* Receive incoming materials by verifying quantities, processing receipts, and generating all required documentation.
* Schedule deliveries to outside vendors and coordinate vendor pickups as needed.
* Process returned materials and coordinate shipments back to vendors.
* Work from purchase orders to generate shipping documents and ensure accurate transaction processing.
* Collaborate with Purchasing and Accounts Receivable to reconcile and close purchase orders.
* Distribute incoming materials to the appropriate departments.
* Process and ship miscellaneous materials and supplies for various departments.
* Maintain organized shipping, receiving, and inventory records.
* Move parts, materials, and carts throughout the manufacturing facility as needed.
* Support material handling improvements and continuous process efficiencies.
* Detect and report defective materials, documentation discrepancies, equipment issues, and unusual conditions to supervision.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and procedures.
* Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.
Required Qualifications:
* High School diploma or GED required.
* 5 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience working with shipping documentation, purchase orders, and inventory transactions.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
* Basic shop math skills.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
* Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with vendors and internal departments.
* Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
* Willingness to wear required PPE, including safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, and hearing protection within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with ERP or manufacturing software systems.
* Experience using customer portals for shipping and order processing.
* Knowledge of manufacturing shipping, receiving, and inventory control procedures.
* Experience coordinating vendor shipments and freight scheduling.
* Familiarity with manufacturing quality documentation and customer-specific shipping requirements.
* Experience supporting purchasing, finance controls, and material handling processes.
* Lean Six Sigma experience in a shipping/receiving environment is a plus
