Job Summary
The Shipping Assistant / Clerk is responsible for the day to day coordination of shipments, verifying and maintaining shipping paperwork for accuracy.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare and verify manifests, shipping labels, bills of lading, and packing slips. Ensure all shipping paperwork is maintained in a secure and organized manner.
• Check all trucks in and out of WMS and assign dock doors in coordination with Dock Lead.
• Secure signatures on bills of lading for out-going shipments, ensuring all paperwork is processed according to Lamplight and Customer specifications.
• Serve as the primary point-of-contact to carriers for incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Contact shipping carriers to arrange, coordinate, resolve or reschedule pickups. Escalate to Traffic or Shipping Supervisor as needed.
• Serve as the functional expert to assist others with questions or process related issues in both EWM and SAP shipping tools.
• Provide backup coverage for Fulfillment Expeditor and assist with label generation for shipments as needed.
• Coordinate with leadership and communicate work assignments as needed to run dock efficiently.
• Other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualification Requirements
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum Work Experience:
• Shipping and warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
• PC literate, with skills in the use of WMS and FedEx/UPS systems preferred.
• Willingness to work flexible hours over all shifts.
