To grow our team in Detroit, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be responsible for incoming and outgoing shipping, receiving, and logistics activities, ensuring smooth operations and on-time-delivery both internally and externally. The ideal candidate will play a key role in coordinating and managing the movement of goods and materials, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of our supply chain. The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator will possess significant experience in logistics activities while demonstrating excellent time management, communication, planning and problem resolution skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials to vendors and suppliers.
  • Coordinate, track and record movement of goods through logistic pathways.
  • Escalate potential inventory risks and ensure contingency plans are in place.
  • Receive incoming shippers and outgoing deliveries into ERP system.
  • Schedule deliveries, coordinating with carriers to ensure effective scheduling and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure ERP and MRP systems and processes are effective, and data is accurate and current, resolving any issues as required.
  • Coordinate Shipping & Receiving team.
  • Verify both inbound and outgoing Bill of Lading and Packing Lists.
  • Ensure the integrity of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and inventory accuracy at all times.
  • Execute logistics plan to move products and packages to reach destinations on schedule.
  • Review freight rates and other transportation costs to keep working costs low.
  • Maintain quality throughout the logistic process.
  • Oversee labeling processes to ensure correct parts / finished assemblies reach outsourced suppliers and customers at the correct time.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with internal team, suppliers, vendors and customers.
  • Track incoming and outgoing deliveries, and participate in inventory activities.
  • Own the related Shipping & Receiving metrics (i.e. ASN accuracy, shipping accuracy BOL, etc.)
  • Ensure operational information, reports, and metrics are available to share with the team as required.
  • Analyze data from shipping and delivery processes to find and resolve bottlenecks and other issues.
  • Take the lead on internal and external relationships to ensure consistent, timely and effective communication, maintaining good relations with stakeholders and ensuring demand for materials is met and deliveries are made on time.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and ISO requirements.
  • Adhere to workplace safety regulations and requirements.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Associates degree in supply chain management or relevant field, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a responsible Shipping & Receiving Coordinator role for an automotive manufacturing Tier I or Tier II supplier.
  • MRP experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Penta and/or SAP preferred)
  • Experience with logistics coordination, inventory management, and problem solving with stakeholders.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and ISO requirements.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes.
