Position Description
Future Fence Company , founded in 1979, is the largest installer of commercial fence in the state of Michigan and is focused on future growth. Our team of skilled craftsmen build some of the Midwest's most interesting ornamental architectural metal products for bridges, buildings and streetscapes out of a variety of metals including steel, aluminum, stainless and bronze.
Position Summary: Reporting the Plant Manager and Program Manager the Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing the flow of material, including incoming and outgoing shipments, inventory tracking and production staging.
Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Items must be organized and traced on a campus map and organized digitally.

• Offload, tag, and stage items properly, and clean the offloading zone daily.
• Ensure truck and trailer loading and update load tickets for yard crew to see.
• Weekly "temporary stock" and monthly physical inventory counts.
• Maintain fittings inventory system and input inventory data into Vista with proper forms.
• Use the Portal/Vista for receiving items and tag shipments for proper staging.
• Resolve discrepancies, returns, and track packing slips; maintain weekly review of blue folders.
• Handle all shipping needs, including packing, weighing, and labeling products as per packing slips.
• Manage tool crib, ensure tools are checked in/out properly, and tag new tools.
• Use Monday board to report maintenance needs for yard, building, crews, and tools.
• Clean and organize the shed daily, review new/old items, and manage stock of fittings.
• Ensure daily cleanup of all areas, including garbage cans, tool return areas, and storage.

Position Requirements
Qualifications / Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in logistics or supply chain management preferred.
  • Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory management roles, preferably in a warehouse or construction setting.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., Vista, Monday Board, etc.).
  • Experience with shipping software for UPS, FedEx, and LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipments.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage inventory, track discrepancies, and perform cycle counts.
  • Excellent attention to detail for verifying shipments and inventory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Ability to prepare reports on inventory and shipping activities.

Working Conditions:
  • Manufacturing environment that may have high noise levels, dust, chemicals, oil, and grease.
  • Environment that may be either hot, cold or humid.
