Position Summary:
As a Shipping and Receiving Associate you will provide customers with exceptional service and be detail oriented. They will also be responsible for making sure that all inbound products and outbound orders are processed in an orderly manner with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with established procedures.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Promotes and demonstrates Wurtec's core values (dedicated, hardworking, ambitious, willing to accept responsibility, and integrity).
  • Inspects and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents, records shortages and rejects damaged goods.
  • Load/unload semi-trailers, flatbed trucks and personal vehicles safely and effectively by using electric or propane powered forklifts or manually operated pallet jacks.
  • Identify, count, label and process incoming material in a timely and accurate manner utilizing our ERP system, Epicor, scales, etc.
  • Organize stock and merchandise within the warehouse by properly boxing and storing goods in their designated location.
  • Interface with production and purchasing personnel to ensure purchase order receipts are correct, especially when issues arise.
  • Pull material and process for sales orders and transfers to other branch locations utilizing a computer workstation or handheld device.
  • Securely package, wrap, band, label, and weigh items to be shipped and ensure proper shipment method and shipping charges. This includes, but is not limited to, freight, small pack and local pickups.
  • Work closely with customer service, sales, and production personnel to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Order supplies as needed to ensure the Shipping and Receiving Department runs and operates smoothly.
  • Record inventory movement and transactions in our ERP system, Epicor.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for one's actions. Exhibits moral, legal, or mental accountability in areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure housekeeping duties are performed. Keep the dock organized and clean.
  • Full-time/in-person attendance is an essential function of this job.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong computer skills, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge in the procedures of shipping and receiving, to include (but not limited to) UPS world ship, FEDEX Ship Manager, US Mail, and various Freight carriers.
  • Certified on Pallet Jack/Forklift equipment, or ability to become certified.
  • Ability and motivation to learn to become proficient with Wurtec's ERP system (Epicor)
  • Ability to drive flatbed and box truck safely, trips no longer than 20 miles.
  • Basic math and counting

Education & Experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a related position
  • High School Diploma or GED

Work Environment:
This role primarily operates in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled. This role may require exposure to inclement weather for short periods of time. The noise level is described as moderate and may be exposed to vibrations. This role requires constant lifting up to 25 lbs., frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifts up to 75 lbs. This role requires standing for long periods of time, kneeling, pushing, reaching, stooping/twisting, climbing, crouching, driving, grasping/gripping, pulling, reaching overhead, and squatting. Near visual acuity, and the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech is required. This role is not eligible to considered for remote work.
