Position Summary
The Shingle Crew Member supports the installation of roofing materials on modular homes within a controlled manufacturing environment. This role contributes to production quality, safety, and efficiency by assisting with roofing installation, material preparation, and adherence to construction specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install roofing materials in a controlled manufacturing environment
  • Use hand and power tools, including shingle knives, nail guns, and shears
  • Install vents, roof jacks, roof edge flashing, and shingles according to specifications
  • Identify required materials using purchase orders and production documentation
  • Install protective domes on flat-top homes for storage and transportation
  • Prepare flashing for loose shipment and installation
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand job requirements
  • Perform work safely and comply with all safety policies, including proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety harnesses and eye protection
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities to support workforce flexibility and skill development
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production needs
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
  • Ability to work at heights up to 14 feet
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment
  • Ability to take accurate measurements
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Preferred:
  • Previous construction or carpentry experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts
  • Moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required
  • Use of safety glasses and other PPE required in designated areas
  • Frequent standing and walking for extended periods
  • Regular lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of materials up to 80 pounds
  • Requires manual dexterity, multi-limb coordination, stamina, and physical endurance
Schedule & Travel
  • Full-time schedule, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Evening work may be required based on production demands
  • Travel is not routinely required; limited out-of-area travel may occur
