POSITION SUMMARY:

The Layout Operator supports steel fabrication operations by reading blueprints, laying out material, and operating various fabrication tools and equipment. This role works closely with supervisors and coworkers to prepare materials, maintain safety standards, and continually develop layout and fabrication skills in a manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may.")

  • Work with supervisors and coworkers to perform layout and fabrication tasks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings.
  • Select, set up, and operate appropriate tools and machines for assigned work, including saws, burn tables, drills, punches, shears, brakes, and rolls.
  • Grind, clean, and prepare parts for fabrication or downstream processes.
  • Handle and work with different types, sizes, and shapes of steel materials.
  • Follow all company policies, safety rules, and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of interest in work and demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • Report to work on time with consistent attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s) including pre employment Pulmonary Function Test (PFT).
  • Daily overtime required and in person, predictable attendance in Ponca City, OK.
  • Valid U.S. Driverโ€™s License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

  • U.S. High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in steel fabrication, layout work, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use fabrication tools and equipment preferred.

  • Ability to read and understand most blueprints and layout instructions.
  • Working knowledge of layout and fabrication tools and equipment.
  • Ability to grind, clean, and prepare parts safely.

Employees are frequently required to walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, crawl, lift, balance, stoop, handle materials, and squat or kneel. Employees must regularly lift and move up to fortynine (49) pounds independently and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with a team lift. This role requires working both indoors and outdoors, often during inclement weather, while performing laborintensive duties. The work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials and operating conditions. Due to these conditions, employees are required to wear companymandated personal protective equipment (PPE) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Work hours may include early morning, late afternoon/evening hours, and weekends in combination depending on job demands.
