Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Labor & Delivery Nurse at CRMC, you’ll thoughtfully guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, always prioritizing the safety of both mother and baby. You'll embrace the dynamic nature of L&D, where some days bring the profound joy of celebrating new beginnings, while others require you to support families through grief with your calm, compassionate presence.

Every day you will masterfully apply your expertise to assess, monitor, and intervene during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum phases. You'll perform a wide array of skilled procedures, from continuous fetal monitoring and medication administration to circulating for C-sections and providing immediate newborn stabilization. Your day will be driven by precision, urgency, and a deep commitment to positive outcomes for both mother and baby, all while collaborating seamlessly within an interdisciplinary team dedicated to excellence.

To be successful in this role, you must have exceptional assessment capabilities, critical thinking, and a patient-first approach, fueled by an unwavering passion for maternal and newborn health. Your ability to calmly navigate fast-paced situations, coupled with your dedication to continuous improvement, will not only ensure superior patient recovery but also drive your professional growth in this immensely rewarding specialty.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage walk-in patients to determine labor status or false alarms.
  • Support laboring patients with interventions such as induction, epidural assistance, pain management, and fetal monitoring.
  • Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligations, cerclages, and emergency procedures.
  • Educate patients on medications, exams, procedures, and stages of labor.
  • Assess and provide care for newborns immediately after delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team, including physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, lactation nurses, charge nurses, postpartum staff, patients, and families.
