Job description

Wheeler Staffing Partners is hiring an Operations Manager, Shared Services with an industrial manufacturing client in Dallas, TX. The Operations Manager will direct the daily operations and coordination of all shop and plant operational activities for the Shared Services division based in Dallas Texas. Managing the activities, budgets, schedules, manpower, resources, KPI reporting, growth strategies, and improvement plans of our industrial shop services which includes the Tube & Weld/Fab shops, Procurement, Shipping & Receiving, Traffic, and Maintenance departments along with their managers and respective teams.This is an on-site role, reporting to the Dallas office Mon-Fri.
Operations Manager, Shared Services Job Responsibilities:
  • This is a high-level management and leadership position. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be able to multi-task and respond swiftly to production and plant urgencies Sometimes required availability outside normal business hours including nights and weekends.
  • The core responsibility is the delivery of quality products and shop services safely, on-time, on budget and on specification.
  • Identify and resolve ever changing manpower or resource shortfalls.
  • Coordinate internal and external technical resources to ensure appropriate cost-effective solutions.
  • Monitor shop work routinely for proper margin and scheduled deliverables.
  • Constantly seek ways to improve margin and efficiency on jobs and projects.
  • Provide guidance to direct reports in proper planning of upcoming jobs.
  • Review current and future manpower requirements to develop staffing recommendations for the Shared Services Director.
  • Determine upcoming employee training needs and execution plans. This includes identification of site-specific training, safety, and insurance requirements.
  • Define and implement supervisor training for business development and managerial expectations.
  • Determine internal candidates for leadership and succession planning.
  • Perform semiannual evaluations of all direct reports.
  • Very little recuring travel requirements with a few trips annually to possible leadership and corporate training events.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Shared Services.
Operations Manager, Shared Services Job Requirements:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Business or a Technical Discipline is preferred, five years experience in a similar industrial/technical business management position may be substituted, military training a plus.
  • Medium to high level computer competency including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point, along with some Salesforce experience and possibly ERP type scheduling routines.
  • Basic understanding of boiler industry terminology.
  • Good understanding of metal fabrication processes, ASME, CAD drawings, and code welding procedures.
  • Strong skills in written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated solid teamwork, communication, and planning skills required.
