Job description

SUMMARY

The Four Slide Machine Operator is responsible for operating machines to automatically form, cut, punch, and assemble metal strip and wire by action of opposing rams and tools to fabricate precision metal parts by performing the following duties. Also, assumes responsibility for general housekeeping duties and striving toward continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identify all the major components of a slide forming machine.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of all machine lubrication systems.
  • Confirm proper operation of all safety devices.
  • Clean machine and surrounding area.
  • Apply and conform to all SPC documentation.
  • Reset machines to achieve specified product dimensions.
  • Stock up machine.
  • Sharpen cutoff and reset to product dimensions.
  • Verify operation of all sensor devices.
  • Complete shift's production records (log book).
  • Pull tooling out of machines.
  • Setup and perform the inspection of profiles in shadow and reflection using optical comparator.
  • Inspect sample parts using precision measuring instruments.
  • Apply and conform to all Job Instructions (QJI's).
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • One year certificate from a college or technical school, or 3-6 months related experience and training.
  • Able to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers comparator, calipers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure using whole numbers and decimals.
  • Basic computer skills.
