Job description

Looking to fill several nightshift (2:30pm - 1:00am) positions.

Training will be performed on day shift(4:00am - 2:30pm) for the first several days.

SEWING OPERATOR

The Sewing Operator completes a combination of the sewing functions required to assemble the raw materials for the manufacture of parachutes and/or related parts, in a reasonable period and in accordance with company quality standards. This position generally requires a skilled operator who is comfortable working with difficult, awkward materials and capable of using standard measuring tools. Daily duties will include the operation of any or all the following sewing/other machines, both manual and computer driven automatic: all sizes of gauges, single/multi needle, bar-tackers, and zigzag machines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate production equipment to create items by approved methods and processes successfully.
  • Interpret/read Manufacturing Work Instruction (MWI), Inspection Checklists (IC), MIL-STD, work specification sheets, and drawings.
  • Ability to effectively use verification tools (ruler, tape measure and stitch gages & etc)
  • Maintain equipment properly and keep a clean and organized workstation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Pin, mark, trim and do any required preparation work on raw material assemblies.
  • Ability to cut all types of textile material using a wide range of cutting tools (scissors, auto cutting devices, hot knife, etc.).
  • Able to follow and comply with company rules, processes, safety, and procedures.
  • Must be able to independently lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Sew all raw materials, including support tapes and webbing.
  • Perform daily pre-operational routine maintenance and basic adjustments on sewing machines.
  • Complete all required paperwork and recordkeeping.
  • Assist as needed in the training of new operators.
  • Work in a team environment and communicate with co-workers at all levels of the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management of PARADIGM.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be US citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR/Export Control requirement)
  • High School degree or equivalent Preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out written drawing instructions in English.
  • Be able to perform the physical demands of the job including the ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Must be able to clearly see small threads.
  • Must be able to identify colors.
  • Industrial sewing machine operation experience preferred.
  • Capable of using standard measuring tools.
  • Pass the sample sewing tests.
  • Ability to comply with all other requirements as specified within the PARADIGM Personnel Policies and Procedures.
