The Settlements Manager, AES Clean Energy, LLC ("CE") works in the fast-paced, high-growth renewable segment of the Company. The primary purpose of the Settlement Manager role is to settle third party and intercompany commodity related trades in a timely an accurate manner. Additionally, the Settlement Manager ensure weekly and monthly statements from various RTOs and ISOs are accurate and accounting is appropriately recorded based on the statements. This role is accountable for managing a team as well as frequent interaction with the Commercial Team, Market Operations as well as other teams within Finance.
Key accountabilities
Accountable for the accurate and timely completion of Settlements activities within area of responsibility
  • Generate customer invoices and supporting documentation
  • Settle all 3rd party and intercompany transactions per contractual terms
  • Ensure funds are received and paid on time and accurately; liaise with counterparties should any discrepancies occur; provide thorough explanations for any outstanding balances
  • Participate in the monthly close process including P&L tieouts, journal entries, and trade exception reporting and clearing.
  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service in order to build and strengthen relationships
  • Pro-actively seek opportunities to standardize, simplify and automate processes to improve performance and efficiency as well as address underlying root causes
  • Assist in ensuring assets are appropriately set up in the Company ETRM system
  • Provide support in response to internal/external audits and litigation
  • Complete and support special projects as assigned

Essential Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or other similar business degrees
Essential experience and job requirements
  • Minimum of eight years relevant accounting/settlement experience or experience in the Energy Industry.
  • Team working capabilities along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to support change
  • Understanding of commodities derivatives as well has cash flow hedging concepts.
  • Proven experience in identifying continuous improvement opportunities
  • Able to identify and implement innovative solutions
  • Attention to detail
  • Technical skills
  • Adapt2, Allegro & SAP experience preferred
  • Microsoft Excel (Intermediate) skills
  • Good understanding of internal controls
  • Understanding of settlements processes
  • Results oriented with strong follow through and the ability to bring accountabilities to timely completion.
