Job description

We are looking for an ambitious EXPERIENCED Prep Cook to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in our fun prep kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team. We have a tightknit crew that works closely with each other. We work very hard, but have a great time doing it. This is definitely NOT your average food service position.

Part time, about 14-18 hours a week. Only on Mondays and Tuesdays. Hours are: 9am to 5pm. Base pay starts at $17/ hour plus tips. Tips from our awesome customers are usually $3-6 more an hour, sometimes even more. So your pay will ALWAYS come out to at least $20-23 an hour, or more! $500 bonus at 6 month anniversary!

Perks:

  • Base pay plus tips. Base pay is $17 + a min. of $4/hr in tips. It is usually $5-6/ hour in tips. So your actual pay will be $21-23/ hr. Tips are qualified for big tax savings!

Responsibilities

  • MUST BE AVAILABLE MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS. These are the only days we work. It is a fixed schedule.
  • Show up on time! Since we only operate 2 days a week we need reliable team members! Unreliable or no call no show will not be permitted and will be terminated, no exceptions.
  • Follow the prep list to prepare marinades, sauces, stir frys, grilled and baked items.
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
  • Prepare simple dishes such vegetables, sauces, etc
  • Maintain a clean and orderly station
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Help pack plates and orders
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Skills

  • Proven experience as prep cook - REQUIRED
  • Catering or large batch cooking experience a plus
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils, food processor, etc
  • Familiar with common commercial cooking equipment such as a flat top, grill, convection oven, etc. 
  • Knowledge on cooking meats, proper temperatures, reducing sauces, etc.
  • A team player with good communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset.
  • Can work independently.
  • Values quality production. Does not cut corners. Understands food safety protocols.
