Job description

DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING | GLOBAL ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY | NYC


Our client is a high-growth, PE-backed global entertainment company headquartered in New York City. They are looking for a Assistant Controller to serve as the operational backbone of their accounting function, partnering closely with senior finance leadership across a dynamic, multi-entity organization


WHAT YOU WILL OWN

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and consolidation across multiple legal entities including joint ventures
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses at the corporate and divisional level
  • Serve as the day-to-day liaison with external auditors, coordinate PBC requests, and assist with preparation of audited financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures
  • Draft technical accounting memos and analyses across complex areas including ASC 606, ASC 805, ASC 718, ASC 842, and ASC96
  • Support purchase accounting, earn-outs, and post-acquisition integration
  • Lead development of a scalable risk and controls framework across the business
  • Act as NetSuite power user and drive standardization across chart of accounts, entity structures, and accounting policies
  • Partner with tax advisors on partnership tax compliance including K-1 preparation and quarterly estimated tax


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 8+ years of accounting experience with a public/private mix, Big 4 or national firm background strongly preferred. Ideally will have CPA
  • Must have prepared audited financial statements and worked directly with external auditors
  • Experience in media, entertainment, sports, or agency environments a strong plus
  • Prior experience in a PE-backed or high-growth environment prefered
  • Deep knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition required
  • NetSuite experience preferred, advanced Excel required
  • Strong communicator who can partner effectively across finance, legal, and operations
  • Experience writing technical accounting memos = plus
