What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Set Nurse, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Set Nurse, you need a valid nursing license, experience in emergency care, and a solid understanding of first aid and health protocols. Familiarity with on-set medical kits, incident reporting systems, and compliance with industry safety regulations is crucial. Strong communication, discretion, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential soft skills. These competencies ensure prompt, effective medical response and help maintain the safety and well-being of cast and crew during production.

How does a Set Nurse typically collaborate with cast, crew, and production teams during filming?

A Set Nurse works closely with cast, crew, and production teams to ensure health and safety on set. They conduct pre-filming health checks, provide immediate response to on-set injuries or illnesses, and advise on protocols for managing health concerns such as fatigue or heat exposure. Communication is key—they often liaise with production managers to coordinate emergency plans and ensure compliance with health regulations. Their proactive presence helps maintain a safe and productive filming environment.

What are Set Nurses?

Set Nurses, also known as on-set nurses or production nurses, are registered nurses who provide medical care and support on film, television, or commercial sets. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the health and safety of cast and crew members by addressing medical emergencies, administering first aid, and managing any health-related concerns that arise during production. Set Nurses also help with medical clearances, monitor working conditions, and may advise on scenes involving medical procedures to ensure accuracy and safety.
