Job Title: Group Exercise Instructor

Department: Recreation Services

Supervisor: Austen Smith

Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00

Length of Time: Eligible for Rehire Per Semester

Department Description

Recreation Services is a comprehensive approach to wellness, fellowship, and life-long fitness, that oversees the fitness center, group exercise, leisure activities, and intramural sports. As a student employee you will gain the experience of leadership and management, while enhancing your critical thinking and communication skills.

Job Description

Represent HPUREC with a positive, enthusiastic attitude while coaching and programming one-on-one fitness sessions for their peers. Students will gain transferable job skills applicable in the real world through their HPUREC employment experience such as leadership, communication, and persuasive skills.

Job Location/ Hours Required

The candidate will perform most/all job duties in (Slane or Panther Commons). Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to (8) hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide students with knowledge of a healthy lifestyle
  • Lead an hour long exercise class
  • Communicate the benefits of exercise on a normal basis
  • Maintain the fitness equipment within the classroom
  • Be creative with classes and implement new routines regularly
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should have prior experience leading a group exercise class and knowledge of the surrounding fitness area.
