Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for Rehab Services with efforts directed towards hospital needs and continued development of the service. Build strong referral basis with physicians and awareness of services in the community through delivery of quality services. The Director of Rehabilitation Services is responsible for directing the daily operations of Rehabilitation Services Department. This includes quality of treatment programs, compliance with licensure and certification requirements and the integration of various practice disciplines (Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Technical and Clinical Services) to provide optimum care for both inpatients and outpatients. Provides evaluation and treatment in the area of therapy as needed. He/She is to perform a thorough evaluation of patients assigned to, and to establish goals and plan of care to meet the needs of said patients as outlined in the Rehab. Services Policy and Procedures Manual and to delegate responsibilities as permissible by Law in accordance with association guidelines and JCAHO requirements to Rehab members.

The Department Director assumes the role as leader in planning, directing and managing the department and staff to assure quality service on a 24 hour basis. The Department Director is responsible for meeting JCAHO Standards, complying with corporate policy and procedures, for managing supplies and equipment on the unit, for promoting teamwork with physicians and all health care providers, for promoting internal and external customer satisfaction, and for appropriate resource management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

1. Graduate from an accredited university with a B.S. degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or Speech-Language Pathology preferably with management course work, B.S. or Master degree in management.

Experience:

1. Minimum of three years experience in health care management and five years clinical experience in a Rehabilitation/Hospital setting. Licensure in the State of Florida.

OTHER QUALIFICATION

1. Knowledge of healthcare system and previous experience in hospital setting.

2. Ability to effectively work with others in a leadership/team player role.

3. Must hold a current CPR certification.
