Job description

Description:

The purpose of this classification is to assist with delivery and warehouse activities. The person in this classification will load/unload trucks and assist with the delivery of merchandise to customer’s home or business.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Places stock on shelves or racks and sets up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
  • Performs general maintenance and grounds keeping duties for warehouse and/or store.
  • Unloads merchandise from warehouse and freight trucks.
  • Ensures safe operations of vehicles by assisting delivery truck drivers with directing trucks into unloading areas.
  • Records deliveries on delivery record and submits to appropriate management.
  • Loads truck in preparation for daily deliveries; assists with delivery, unloading and set-up.
  • Obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
  • Assists with repossessions of goods.
  • Assembles merchandise as required.
  • Performs customer service inspections and repairs as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of store/warehouse interior and grounds and upholds the company’s Delivery Standards.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Jr. High School Diploma; six months experience in distribution or warehouse environment, shipping/receiving or delivering merchandise; or any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may require the ability to calculate decimals and utilize principles of fractions.

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in dealing with situations involving repetitive or short cycle operations or duties carried out according to set procedures.
