Job Description:
Job Title: 
Database Expert/ Architect

Location:  Jackson, MI

Mode: Contract (6+ Months)-Onsite

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for overseeing technical operations, installation and migration tasks, guiding team members, and ensuring processes are followed. The role demands troubleshooting, adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and strategizing for backup and restoration across a multi-geo support environment. Ensuring maximum uptime, improving customer and employee satisfaction, and suggesting design and technology changes are integral to the role.

Technical Requirements:

  • SQL Server installation and recommendations for new installations
  • Expertise in supporting SQL AlwaysON clusters
  • Migration from Oracle to SQL Server or between SQL Server platforms
  • Migration from SQL Server to Azure SQLDB and similar PaaS platforms
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of backup issues using Commvault
  • Strong skills in Batch or PowerShell scripting
  • Experience with Quest Foglight for SQL Server monitoring
  • Performance tuning and identifying bottlenecks
  • Experience in disaster recovery and high availability

Other Skills / Experience:

  • Worked on production systems
  • Experience with database migration, installation, upgrades, and patching
  • Datacenter understanding
  • Knowledge of other RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Singlestore, HANA is a plus)
  • Knowledge of other DB platforms (Azure CosmosDB, Redis, MongoDB is a plus)
