The Field Application Engineer – Sensors is responsible for supporting revenue growth through technical expertise, customer engagement, opportunity identification, and reliable application support. This role functions as a hybrid technical sales/business development engineer and field application resource, partnering closely with customers, Sales, Engineering, Marketing, and Product Management to develop and support sensor and relay-related opportunities. The FAE will serve as a competent technical partner, provide Voice-of-Customer feedback, and help turn technical customer requirements into well-qualified business opportunities.

What You’ll Do
  • Support revenue growth by increasing sales and market share through technical expertise, customer engagement, and opportunity identification.
  • Drive strategic growth initiatives within the sensor product line.
  • Develop new customers and products and identify new market opportunities for Standex Electronics competencies.
  • Facilitate the technical exchange between the customer and Standex engineering teams.
  • Provide technical sales support, opportunity qualification, Voice-of-Customer feedback, CRM updates, and customer visit reports.
  • Support product customization and integration, troubleshooting, technical documentation, application notes, user manuals, and pre- and post-sales support.
  • Identify and solve technical concerns for new business opportunities in the field.
  • Understand and promote key technical capabilities of Standex Electronics to support customer engagement and drive strategic growth.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Product Management.
  • Manage project timelines, technical deliverables, and customer commitments to support application milestones.
  • Facilitate collaboration across sites and functions to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and addressed.
  • Participate in technical sales presentations, customer meetings, trainings, and product/application discussions with new and existing customers.
  • Provide input toward new products and new markets to support long-term growth.
  • Support KPI-driven performance measures, including funnel value, lead qualification metrics, RFQ turnaround time, quote hit rate, bookings, and margin performance.
  • Promote a positive image of Standex Electronics to customers and the industry in the region.
  • Provide leadership to constantly improve Standex Electronics customer-based cultures.
What You’ll Bring
  • BS degree, or equivalent, in a technical-related discipline.
  • 8+ years in a Field Application Engineer, Applications Engineer, Technical Support, or similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Experience supporting sensor-related applications.
  • Senior-level ability to work independently, manage complex customer engagements, and coordinate cross-functional activity.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, circuits, troubleshooting, product integration, and test equipment.
  • Experience providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support, opportunity qualification, customer presentations, and customer visits.
  • Ability to translate technical customer needs into well-qualified business opportunities.
  • Ability to travel 30%.
