Humanoid

Full-time

Job description

Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That's why we've set out on a mission to build the world's most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We're bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 Alpha - our rapidly developed humanoid platform now running in real industrial pilots - and we're growing the team to take it even further.
About the Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer supporting the safety firmware efforts in Boston, you will play a critical role in building the infrastructure that enables high-quality firmware development for our next generation of humanoid robots. In this position, you will work at the intersection of embedded systems, developer infrastructure, and functional safety, owning the build, integration, and automation systems that allow firmware engineers to move quickly while maintaining the rigor required for safety-critical software. You will partner closely with firmware engineers and related teams to develop a production-grade build and test environment, integrate specialized third-party safety tools, and improve the overall reliability and velocity of the development workflow.
What You'll Do
  • Augment and maintain the firmware portion of our Bazel-based build system, supporting both firmware development and safety-critical software workflows.
  • Integrate, maintain, and automate specialized third-party tooling required for functional safety development.
  • Architect and deploy robust CI/CD pipelines that enhance developer velocity while ensuring build integrity and traceability for safety-related projects.
  • Optimize GitHub Actions and runner infrastructure to reduce latency and support scalable firmware development workflows.
  • Help design and manage infrastructure for automated hardware testing, including the development of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments.
  • Create internal tooling using Python and related technologies to bridge build, test, and analysis systems.
  • Partner with firmware engineers to minimize friction in the development cycle, allowing the team to remain focused on core algorithms and product delivery.
  • Contribute to a production-grade firmware integration system characterized by high reliability, reproducibility, and process integrity.

What We're Looking For
  • Proven expertise with Bazel, Git, and complex CI/CD ecosystems, including the management of GitHub Actions and custom runner infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for architecting internal tooling, automated workflows, and robust system integrations.
  • Experience with embedded toolchains (e.g., GNU, LLVM/Clang), cross-compilation, dependency management, and build pipeline optimization.
  • Experience with automated test infrastructure, specifically regarding hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or sophisticated lab automation platforms.
  • The ability to collaborate with firmware engineers to streamline development cycles while upholding the rigor, reproducibility, and safety integrity required for safety-critical software.
  • A track record of independently owning and advancing critical infrastructure beyond standard tool administration.
What We Offer
  • Comprehensive health coverage for US‑based employees, including fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, with virtual care and employee assistance resources.
  • Meaningful time off to rest and recharge: 23 days of PTO (accrued), separate sick leave, and paid company holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
  • Equity included-we believe builders should share in what they build.
  • Free daily catered lunch, snacks, and drinks in‑office.
  • Collaboration with top‑tier engineers, researchers, and product experts in AI and robotics.
  • Freedom to influence the product and own key initiatives.

For this role in Massachusetts, the expected base salary range is $150K - $200K USD per year; your placement in that range depends on how your experience maps to our internal leveling.
