Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA.  This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide Tier III IT Systems support across enterprise technologies, including VMware vCenter, Horizon View, Site Recovery Manager, HP Blade Servers, HP SANs, HPAC Secure Printing, Active Directory, Group Policies, Certificate Services, DHCP, DNS, and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex performance, security, and technical challenges across supported infrastructure platforms.

  • Perform requirements analysis, gathering, and integration for core system platforms while collaborating on project teams to package and deploy production releases.

  • Author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for repetitive tasks and participate in ITIL Service Lifecycle processes, including submitting Change Requests.

  • Investigate and resolve operational issues in coordination with technical personnel, while providing mentorship and guidance to junior Systems Engineers.

  • Support system maintenance and unplanned service outages after normal duty hours (nights and weekends) on occasion.

  • Perform up to 10% local travel within the DC Metro area as required by program requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of systems engineering experience, or an Associates degree with 8 years of systems engineering experience, or a High School diploma with 11 years of systems engineering experience can be substituted for a bachelor’s degree

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification, ex., Security+

  • IAT Level III certification ex. SecurityX, CASP+ required within 6 months of hire

  • DoD 8570 Computing Environment Certification required within 6 months of hire, ex., MCSA, VCP, or equivalent

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows 2008/2012/2016/2019 Servers; Microsoft Windows 10; administering Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and workstation and server hardware; administering Microsoft Office 2010/2016; basic networking including DHCP/TCPIP

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Systems, HP SANs, or VMware products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Windows systems experience including DNS, Group Policy, and PKI; deploying workstation images and Thin/Zero clients; and Administering vSphere, Horizon View, data backup, and antivirus software

  • Experience applying security best practices from DISA and/or vendors

  • Experience using a Service Desk ticketing system, such as Remedy or ServiceNow

  • ITIL Foundations certification

  • Scripting experience

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have a current or active TS/SCI and be willing and able to obtain a polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
