Job description

Tri-City Group is currently looking for a proactive Senior IT Systems Engineer to fill an immediate opening within the IT Managed Service team in Davenport, IA. This role involves managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting IT systems for multiple clients. They act as technical experts, resolving complex issues, leading upgrades and design projects, implementing solutions, and ensuring the optimal performance and uptime of client infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Servers, Microsoft 365, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud solutions.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot networking devices such as firewalls, routers, switches, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Plan and carry out IT infrastructure projects, including system migrations, upgrades, and security enhancements.
  • Offer Tier 2/3 technical support for desktops, servers, networking, and cloud environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex IT issues across different client environments.
  • Manage schedules and prioritize multiple support requests and project tasks.
  • Keep projects on track by coordinating with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Apply best practices for backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity.
  • Work directly with clients to offer technical guidance and strategic suggestions.
  • Document configurations, troubleshooting steps, and client environments for future reference.


Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Experience: 4+ years in IT support, system administration, or a similar role (preferably in an MSP or multi-client environment)
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Windows Server, networking, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, Fortinet, and SonicWall are preferred, and cloud technologies
  • Project Execution: Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete projects efficiently while balancing support tasks
  • Multi-Tasking & Organization: Capable of managing multiple client environments, tickets, and deadlines
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of cybersecurity best practices, compliance requirements, and security tools
  • Certifications (Preferred but Not Required): Microsoft (MCP, MCSA, MS-900, AZ-900), CompTIA Network+/Security+, Cisco CCNA, or similar
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical users
