Job description

System technicians provide television production and post-production support to the Secretary of

Energy and designated senior officials at DOE/HQ and at offsite locations as directed by the

Office of Administration. These videographer/ editors operate a wide array of television

production and post-production equipment and are proficient in the use of applicable

professional software as directed for use by the DOE/HQ Office of Administration. They provide

technical research for the recommendation of new equipment, software and supplies which are

related to television production activity as directed by the Office of Administration. They

interface directly with DOE/HQ clients who provide input to the editorial process.

EXPERIENCE:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or 5 years of equivalent

experience in broadcast, video production and in-house cable broadcast systems

Responsible, self-motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized and able to take initiative to resolve

problems and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to plan, organize and implement to ensure the successful completion of a project

by a specific due date

• 5 years’ experience in video production preferred and 6-8 years of relevant experience, or

an equivalent combination of experience and education.

• Strong lighting and cinematography skills

• Excellent video editing skills

• Motion graphics skills – able to produce motion graphics for use in video or as

standalone animations

• Expert-level skill with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro

• Demonstrated experience and expertise in Premier Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After

Effects, PluralEyes, Quicktime Pro, ENG cameras, Non-Linear Editing software (Final

Cut Pro Studio and Adobe Creative Suite), Illustrator, and InDesign.

• Extensive knowledge of both traditional and digital film equipment and technology

including appropriate uses for different types of cameras and lighting equipment, current

video codecs and compression technology, file formats and digital file optimization for

file size, optimization for different screens (e.g., monitor vs. television), and using video

on the web
