Overview:

We areseekingan experienced and strategic leader to head ourLicensing Supportfunctionwithin thePatentsDepartment.Thiscriticalroleleadsa global teamresponsible for technical, analytical, and operational support across the company'sglobalpatentlicensing programstoenablelicensing discussionswith potential licenseesthroughthe creation and presentation ofhigh-quality technical evidence.

This role supportspatentlicensing execution across:

  • Video services and streaming platforms;

  • Cellular handsets and tablets;

  • Other consumer electronics, IoT and Auto;

  • Other licensing programs as needed

Central responsibilitiesincludecoordinatingwith the licensing team on patent licensing strategies,ensuring the organization is equipped with high-quality technical evidence, including claim charts and infringement analyses, to support licensing discussions, negotiations, andlitigation, and actively supporting technical discussions with licensees to drive successful licensing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop patent assertion strategies in collaboration with the licensingteamstargeting:

    • Video services and streaming platforms;

    • Cellular handsets and tablets;

    • Other consumer electronics, IoT and Auto

  • Lead the identification,evaluationandselectionof patentsaligned withspecificlicensing programs;

  • Overseethegenerationand review ofpatent claim charts and technicalevidenceby the Infringement Analysis teamandthe developmentofcustomer-specific licensing materialsby the patent product team;

  • Leadand co-ordinatetechnical discussionswith potential licenseesincluding presenting infringement positions,andaddressingtechnical challenges,counterargumentsand design aroundpositions

  • Ensureall technical materials areaccurate,standards-aligned,where applicable andclearly structuredto supportlicensing negotiations

  • Support litigationandarbitrationefforts, and oversee preparation of technical inputs for expert reports and testimony

  • Contribute to andsupport participation in patent pools

  • Collaborate with corporate development group to evaluate patent acquisition opportunities

  • Partnerwith patent portfolio managementand prosecution teams to enhanceInterDigital'spatent portfolio, including participation in mining and reviewinitiatives

  • Provide regularstructuredreporting to senior management on patent licensing discussions, licensingmaterialsand portfolios

  • Lead, mentor, and develop aLicensing Supportteamhaving technical depth and external engagement skills, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture

  • Drive the adoption ofAI-enabled toolsto enhanceportfolio mining, evidence of use analysis and claim chart generation

  • Establish scalable processes for claim chart generation, review, andlifecycle management across the portfolio.

Required Skills &CoreExpertise:

Experienceand Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrated experience in:

    • Claim chartdevelopment andinfringement analysisfor licensing negotiations, and litigation contexts

    • Leading technical discussions withprospectivelicensees

    • Mapping patent claims todevicearchitecturesand featureimplementations

  • Strong understanding of one of the following required:

    • Video streaming technology and system architecture

    • Codec standards (e.g. HEVC, VVC, AV1)

    • Cellular standards (3GPP)

  • Experiencesupporting litigation,arbitrationor dispute resolution processes

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven abilityto develop and leadteamsin a global environment.

  • Excellentcommunication skills with the ability to engage effectively across technical, legal, and executive audiences

  • Strong ability to translate complex technicalconcepts,standards,andimplementations intoclear persuasive licensing narratives

  • Proven track record influencing executive stakeholders and board-level priorities

Strategic & Operational Capabilities

  • Strategic thinker with strong executionskills and attention to detail

  • Ability tooperateeffectively in a complex, global environment with multiple stakeholders

  • Experience driving process improvements and implementing scalable operational frameworks

  • Experience leading transformation intitiatives

Qualifications:

  • Advanceddegree (MS or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Telecommunications, or a related field

  • USPTO registration or European Patent Attorney Qualification would be a plus;

  • Experience at a major IP licensing companyis a strong plus.

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range specific to New York/CA is $205,000 - $325,000 /annually + discretionary incentive bonus, benefits and may include other forms of compensation components such as long-term incentives. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
