SVP MEETINGS amp; EVENTS
GENERAL SUMMARY
The SVP of Meeting and Events serves as a client-facing senior operational and strategic leader responsible for the delivery, quality, and profitability of Etherio’s meetings and events portfolio. Lead a multi-level organization of Vice Presidents, Senior Directors, Team Leads, and planning teams responsible for executing complex programs for clients while maintaining strong executive relationships with key client stakeholders.
Champion Etherio’s operational excellence through consistent adoption of Standard Operating Procedures, tools, templates, and service standards while ensuring programs are delivered with creativity, operational discipline, measurable business results, and exceptional client service. This role requires experience with AI and emerging technologies and the ability to ensure teams leverage these tools to improve operational efficiency, planning intelligence, and the overall client and attendee experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Role Overview
  • Lead a multi-level organization of Vice Presidents, Senior Directors, Team Leads, and planning teams responsible for executing complex programs for clients.
  • Champion Etherio’s operational excellence through consistent adoption of Standard Operating Procedures, tools, templates, and service standards.
  • Ensure programs are executed with creativity, operational discipline, measurable results, and exceptional client service.
  • Reinforce Etherio’s commitment to Unreasonable Hospitality, ensuring each client and attendee experience reflects extraordinary care and attention and aligned with client’s success matrix.
  • Develop or work with partners to create AI driven processes that allow for more time to be spent on creativity, consultation and strategy.
Executive Leadership amp; Organizational Management
  • Lead and mentor Vice Presidents, Senior Directors, and Team Leads responsible for planning and delivering client programs.
  • Conduct weekly leadership meetings and individual check-ins with direct reports to review priorities, operational challenges, and performance.
  • Ensure leaders are coaching and supporting their teams while maintaining high operational standards.
  • Create alignment across teams and verticals to ensure consistent knowledge share and delivery of Etherio programs.
  • Support leadership development, succession planning, and career growth for emerging leaders.
Operational Excellence amp; Program Delivery
  • Ensure adherence to Etherio’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), tools, templates, and etiquette guide across all programs.
  • Oversee consistent execution of program phases from SOW scope and pricing, kick-off, planning, on-site operations through final reconciliation and formal wrap-up.
  • Ensure Program Specifications are reviewed by Team Leads at least two weeks prior to program execution.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, planning efficiency, and service quality.
  • Implement improvements that raise the standard of service across planning, on-site operations, and post-program reporting.
Client Experience amp; Relationship Leadership
  • Serve as an executive presence for key client relationships and high-profile meetings.
  • Attend program kick-off meetings, strategic planning sessions, and wrap-up meetings when possible.
  • Ensure teams deliver strategic, consultative planning that exceeds client expectations.
  • Collaborate with Account Executives to strengthen relationships and expand opportunities within client accounts.
  • Champion a client-centric culture where thoughtful gestures and proactive service differentiate Etherio.
Financial Stewardship amp; Profitability
  • Ensure programs are delivered within approved budgets while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
  • Partner with Account Executives and Team Leads to align pricing, scope, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor financial performance across programs to ensure profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance on vendor negotiations, cost management, and financial discipline.
Strategic Partner Alliance Program Leadership
  • Drive full adoption of Etherio’s Strategic Partner Alliance Program across all applicable programs.
  • Ensure teams utilize approved partners and sourcing platforms including Reposite.
  • Promote strong relationships with strategic partners to enhance creativity, service quality, and purchasing power.
  • Address performance issues and identify opportunities for improved partnerships with VP over the Strategic Alliance Partner Program.
Training, Coaching amp; Professional Development
  • Ensure all team members follow their individual training and professional development plans.
  • Partner with the VP of Training and Professional Development to measure progress and leadership growth.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to senior leaders and emerging talent.
  • Support industry certifications, training, and leadership development initiatives.
Strategic Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead the evolution of Etherio’s operational delivery model to support growth and scalability.
  • Maintain oversight of the health of the client portfolio including satisfaction, profitability, and growth potential.
  • Identify risks, service gaps, or opportunities within client programs and develop strategic solutions.
  • Support succession planning and leadership pipeline development across the organization.

  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative program strategies.
  • Support partnerships with industry organizations, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client experiences and operational efficiency through new ideas and technologies.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in meetings, events, or incentive travel.
  • Proven experience managing large planning teams and complex programs.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, pricing, and profitability.
  • Executive presence and ability to work with senior client stakeholders.
  • Deep command of end-to-end event delivery (strategy, creative/production, sourcing, logistics, reg/attendee tech, on-site ops).
  • CMP, CMM, CIS, CITP or other industry certifications preferred.

WORKPLACE LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
This position is based in our Atlanta office. We operate as a Hybrid work environment, working as a combination of remote and in-office presence, as well as the possibility of being onsite at client and/or event locations.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel approximately 20-30% depending on client programs, leadership meetings, and on-site program oversight
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
Requires flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client, event, or company needs.
