Job Title: Sr. Engineer Full Time Work On Site Work Location: Tampa, FL 33619 Ref# 246733 Seeking a Senior Engineer to provide engineering and operations support for substation protection and control systems. This role is responsible for relay settings consultation, protection system design, project coordination, engineering support during construction and commissioning, and development of protection and control drawings for substation projects

Key Responsibilities Consult with System Security personnel to establish protection requirements, operating philosophy, and relay protection and control schemes consistent with system requirements. Represent and coordinate substation engineering projects through the project management process. Investigate and evaluate protection and control devices and provide recommendations for equipment selection and procurement.

Follow up on equipment delivery and verify proper project charging. Review manufacturer drawings for accuracy. Provide engineering support to operating departments during equipment checkouts, on-call rotations, and as required.

Interpret engineering designs during construction and obtain feedback from field personnel to improve future designs. Develop protection and control drawings including: Preliminary drawings Layout and installation drawings Wiring diagrams Bills of material Nameplate schedules Cable schedules Prepare and submit work orders and associated documentation. Support Protection & Control crews during project execution.

Reconcile records, drawings, and project documentation after project completion. Write operating and switching instructions. Support major storm restoration efforts through field assessments and repair identification.

Required Qualifications Experience Minimum 8 years of engineering experience. Eligibility to become a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. Minimum 2 years of experience in power system engineering and operations.

Education Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. OR Engineering Technology degree from an ABET-accredited program. Licenses / Certifications Eligible to obtain a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification in the State of Florida and must obtain it within the first two years of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Sound knowledge of, or ability to learn, protection and control systems. Ability to interpret substation and manufacturer drawings. Ability to independently evaluate and modify system designs.

Preferred Qualifications Licenses / Certifications Professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Florida. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to manage individual researcher or staff specialist responsibilities. Ability to conduct, coordinate, and supervise complex engineering studies and reports.

Ability to assist in training, orientation, work assignments, and supervision of other employees. Key Relationships Internal Substation Operations System Security Project Management Accounting Purchasing Planning Energy Supply Other Electric Delivery departments External Utility and industry personnel Vendors Professional organizations and industry committees Supervision Direct Reports None Indirect Responsibilities May provide guidance, training, and consultation to Protection & Control engineers regarding substation relaying schemes and calculations. Working Conditions Primarily office-based with periodic field work in substations and equipment yards.

Rotational on-call duties for one week at a time. Occasional overtime and weekend work as required. Support storm restoration activities and field assessments.

Physical Requirements Ability to work in substation environments. Ability to walk on uneven surfaces including granite rock, limestone roadways, and grass areas. Ability to perform field inspections and work with field crews as needed.
