How does a senior vendor manager typically collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive business objectives?

A Senior Vendor Manager works closely with cross-functional teams such as procurement, finance, legal, and operations to align vendor strategies with overall business goals. This involves frequent meetings to discuss contract terms, performance metrics, and any operational issues that arise. Effective communication and negotiation skills are essential, as the role often requires balancing the needs of various departments while maintaining strong vendor relationships. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, vendor management software, and certifications such as CPSM or PMP are commonly required. Exceptional relationship-building, analytical thinking, and communication skills distinguish top performers in this role. Job description

Senior BESS Construction Manager (EPC) — Take Grid-Scale Storage From Dirt to Energized

McCarran, NV (50%+ travel — IL, MI, TX & future sites) | Full-Time | $130,000 – $170,000

The Opportunity

Battery storage projects don't build themselves — they need a construction leader who can run crews, subs, and vendors while keeping quality and safety uncompromised. Our client, a rapidly scaling clean energy innovator, is hiring a Senior BESS Construction Manager to lead deployment of grid-scale battery energy storage, associated infrastructure, and solar across a growing multi-state footprint. From bidding and contractor negotiations through commissioning and closeout, the build is yours to run.

Why You'll Love It

  • Lead the whole build: Bidding, negotiation, execution, punch list, closeout — every phase
  • The growth sector: BESS and solar deployments expanding across multiple states
  • People-first leadership role: Proactive team management, not just paperwork oversight
  • Home base advantage: Nevada residency with no state income tax

What You'll Do

  • Manage all construction phases — bidding, contractor negotiations, execution, punch lists, closeout
  • Lead project teams of in-house installers, subcontractors, and vendors; optimize performance against project goals
  • Develop scopes and RFPs with infrastructure and process engineering teams
  • Oversee construction financial analysis, budgeting, and productivity
  • Perform constructability reviews, quality control, and root-cause troubleshooting
  • Administer RFIs, submittals, change orders, invoicing, contracts, and tracking systems
  • Coordinate startup, early-phase planning, QA/QC documentation, and commissioning
  • Champion safety and environmental compliance; report key metrics to leadership
  • Travel to sites for direct oversight of day-to-day activities

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of construction experience, ideally via General or Electrical Contractor — BESS and commercial solar strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree (MS preferred) in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Bluebeam, ACC, and MS Project preferred
  • Ability to read design documents and give constructability feedback before and during construction
  • Literacy in P&IDs, single-lines, flow, logic, and loop diagrams
  • Skill sequencing installations across all trades
  • Preferred: permitting/special inspections experience, commissioning agent management
  • Willingness to travel 50%+ (IL, MI, TX, and future locations)

Build the storage fleet powering the grid's future. Apply now.
