Senior Temporary professionals often encounter the challenge of quickly adapting to new team dynamics and company cultures while delivering results within a limited timeframe. Senior Temporary positions are short-term roles designed for experienced professionals who can take on advanced responsibilities within an organization. These roles may be filled to cover staff absences, handle increased workloads, or lead special projects. Senior Temporary employees are expected to bring a high level of expertise and often require minimal training. Assignments can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on the employer’s needs. This arrangement offers flexibility for both the professional and the company.

These skills ensure you can quickly add value, integrate with new teams, and deliver results during temporary assignments.

Job description

Reports to: Creative Director

Department: Creative

Classification: Temporary, Non-Exempt

OVERVIEW

Senior designers at Owen Jones work on projects across our range of clients. They are responsible for the visual execution of everything from large-scale digital platforms to one-off print initiatives. We have a diverse client roster, and our Senior Designers need to be able to move from project to project without skipping a beat.

You’ll be expected to create thoughtful and beautiful designs for projects big and small, to dig into the details of a project and really learn the subject, and to bring personality and precision in equal measure to your work. You’ll collaborate with the creative team on projects, coordinate with producers and managers, and present in a way that is clear and compelling.

You should be a team-focused, skilled, and imaginative thinker with an eye for detail. You’ll be expected to create stunning work, but also to contribute at every stage of the project cycle and to constantly be looking for growth and learning opportunities for yourself and for the agency. You'll be working alongside very talented and experienced thinkers, and your ability to both contribute ideas as well as execute the ideas of others will be essential to your success.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with and take direction from project leads (Creative Director, Art Director, Copy Director)

  • Create compelling, intelligent and beautiful designs and concepts on a range of projects

  • Interpret design briefs to understand project goals, requirements, and expectations

  • Collaborate with the creative, production, account, and development teams on both large and small-scale projects

  • Build the confidence and skills to communicate your ideas clearly to internal teams as well as to our clients

  • Work with the team to ensure all designs are accurate and complete prior to review

  • Lead creative projects and small teams as directed, and consider a project’s approach, strategy, and mentorship opportunities

  • Report regularly to a creative lead on the status of projects, the agency, and you

  • Gain a solid understanding about the client’s business and audiences

  • Push yourself, grow, and speak up about how things can get better for you and for the agency

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Demonstrated commitment to solving complex creative problems and the strategy skills to deliver best-in-class solutions

  • Impeccable execution and care for all aspects of design, from preliminary ideation and conceptual thinking through final output

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and present findings and articulate design rationale

  • Experience working in an iterative, collaborative environment

  • Proven ability to work autonomously, be accountable to project and team leads, and remain organized and on task

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficiency in industry tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Advertising, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a creative role

  • A minimum of 5+ years in a creative-focused agency or in-house at a leading brand

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Collaborates with: Creative, production, account, and development teams

INCLUSION AND ENCOURAGEMENT

We know that experience can show up in many ways, and we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet 100% of the qualifications. If you're passionate about strategy, eager to grow, and excited to contribute your perspective, we'd love to hear from you.
