Job Description:

 

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Specialist, Technical Writer with a strong knowledge of technical writing and broad knowledge of project management to be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering technical documentation such as Operational and Maintenance manuals, user guides, and instructional materials for paper, multimedia, or web-based publication for Radar, telemetry data recording equipment and operational data systems. The candidate must possess the ability to manage complex projects or processes with general oversight. The candidate will communicate within and outside of their own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures. Candidates must also possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to maintain focus on complex tasks.

Essential Functions:

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development teams, product managers, and subject matter experts to gather information and understand complex technical concepts
  • Develop, organize, and deliver technical information (e.g., user guides, installation and maintenance manuals) for non-technical and technical users in Adobe FrameMaker, also in structured (markup language) and unstructured (Word) environments
  • Ability to read technical drawings and convert the information into easy-to-understand procedures
  • Responsible for reviews of documentation for style, design, layout, accuracy, and editorial aspects per Mil-Spec 38784 and customer requirements.
  • Proactively engage with development teams to ensure timely updates and revisions to the documentation based on equipment changes and enhancements
  • Stay up to date with industry standards and trends in technical documentation, and recommend improvements and new approaches for enhancing the documentation process
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage complex projects
  • Willing to Travel 10% of the time if required
  • Must be able to obtain a US Secret security clearance as a job requirement

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
  • Able to obtain Secret or Top Secret Clearance.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Responsible for reviews of documentation for style, design, layout, accuracy, and editorial aspects per Mil-Spec 38784 and customer requirements
  • Experience with creating documentation in HTML (FrameMaker, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience creating companion information such as illustrations using photography or illustration software (Photoshop) or flowcharts/graphs using Visio

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $84,000 - $156,000. The salary range for this role in Florida is $73,000 - $135,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
