Position Summary

Aegis Power Systems is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Modeling Engineer to support the development of advanced power conversion systems used in mission-critical applications. This role is responsible for developing detailed power electronics models, performing predictive simulations, correlating results with hardware testing, and supporting engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed models of power electronics components, circuits, and converter topologies.
  • Perform predictive simulations and analyses to evaluate electrical, thermal, and system-level performance.
  • Support thermal management analysis and Printed Wiring Board (PWB) EMI layout optimization.
  • Evaluate and select electronic components for custom power conversion designs.
  • Conduct Sneak Path Analysis to prevent failures and author preventative design guidelines.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams in gathering model correlation data.
  • Correlate simulation results with laboratory testing and real-world hardware performance.
  • Generate modeling reports, technical documentation, and simulation artifacts supporting product development.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to engineering teams and company leadership.
  • Design and own sub-circuits analysis within larger power conversion systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience modeling and simulating power electronics systems.
  • Proven experience with power electronics design, analysis, and simulation.
  • Advanced proficiency using modeling and simulation tools.
  • Deep understanding of power electronics, power supplies, and converter topologies.
  • Working knowledge of PWB design principles and electronic component selection.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with LTspice, PSIM, and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Working knowledge of Altium Designer.
  • Experience with thermal analysis, control systems, signal integrity, or power integrity.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, military, or other high-reliability electronics environments.
  • Ability to lead small to medium-sized engineering projects.
