Job description

We are seeking a Senior Cloud DBA to provide senior-level database administration for cloud-hosted workloads, supporting secure provisioning, configuration, monitoring, backup/recovery, and performance in regulated environments. This role partners with cloud and DevSecOps engineers to maintain compliance-aligned database services and documentation while ensuring stability and availability for mission applications.
*This position is contingent upon contract award.*
Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain cloud-based database platforms within secure environments such as AWS GovCloud, including database provisioning, configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, and availability management to support mission-critical applications.
  • Design, implement, and manage database backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability solutions to ensure data integrity, business continuity, and compliance with Federal security and operational requirements.
  • Support cloud infrastructure operations through the development and deployment of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions, automation of administrative processes, and optimization of cloud resources to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Apply security best practices, including STIG implementation, vulnerability remediation, access control management, and compliance monitoring across cloud servers, database instances, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, application developers, and cybersecurity teams to support application deployments, troubleshoot complex cloud and database issues, and continuously enhance system performance, security, and operational resilience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Years of Experience: 5+ years DBA experience; 3+ years in cloud environments.
  • Education Level: High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Clearance Requirements: Must have active Top Secret (TS) clearance.
  • Certification Requirements: DoD 8140 baseline: Security+ CE (or higher). Cloud/database certifications preferred (AWS/Azure as applicable).
  • Travel may be required for position.
  • Any other work-related qualifications needed for the role: Experience operating in regulated environments; familiarity with STIG/SRG/SCAP compliance workflows.
