Moog's Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for a Senior Supplier Development Engineer.
  • Primary scope: supplier maturity, capability gaps, launch readiness, and structured risk reduction.
  • Decision posture: coordinates and drives the plan, while aligning technical and business decisions with stakeholders.

Reporting to our Supplier Quality & Development Manager. This on-site position is based in Torrance, CA (Los Angeles area) and offers a 9/80 work schedule.
To be considered for the role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (manufacturing, supply chain, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience)
  • 7 or more years' experience of manufacturing engineering or Supply Chain Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with supplier development, APQP, industrialization, manufacturing readiness, or operations improvement
  • Ability to assess process maturity, capability evidence, and supplier execution risk
  • Strong project-management discipline with clear action tracking and follow-up
  • Clear communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders on risk, expectations, and closure plans
  • 20% to 35% travel, depending on supplier-development and readiness-assessment demand.

As a Senior Supplier Development Engineer, you will:
  • Improve supplier capability, capacity, readiness, and execution before issues become chronic escapes by leading structured supplier-development plans and readiness assessments, including supply-chain implementation for new product introduction and work transfer.
  • Lead supplier capability, capacity, readiness, and risk assessments for assigned suppliers or programs.
  • Build and track supplier development plans with specific owners, milestones, and closure evidence.
  • Support supplier onboarding, segmentation, capability assessment, and readiness review activities.
  • Coordinate program, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality inputs when supplier maturity is below expectation.
  • Drive clear issue definition and action ownership so development work does not fragment across teams.
  • Focuses on the following commodities: Electro-Mechanical Assemblies, Electronics, Supplier Owned IPs, and Some machining knowledge required.

NPI Implementation in Supply Chain
  • Drive supplier-development plans for NPI, new supplier onboarding, and work transfers with clear readiness gates, owners, and recovery milestones.
  • Coordinate capacity, capability, industrialization, and business-readiness actions needed to launch new parts into the supply base without fragmented ownership.
  • Maintain visibility to open NPI supplier risks and ensure they are integrated into the dashboard and weekly operating cadence.

Measurable KPIs
  • Supplier development plan milestones closed by due date >= 90%.
  • Capability / readiness assessments completed to plan >= 95%.
  • Assigned high-risk supplier actions moved from open to verified closure within target >= 90%.
  • APQP / launch-readiness deliverables completed on time for owned scope >= 95%.
  • Unowned supplier-development actions on assigned portfolio maintained at zero.
