Position Description
This is a full time, regular, Safety Sensitive position within Fleet Maintenance, a division of the Office of Central Services.
The mission of the Office of Central Services is to provide efficient services to county operating departments, and the public, through effective leadership of centralized purchasing, risk management, insurance and safety, facilities management, fleet management and real estate, while fostering equitable participation of diverse businesses, thus providing the residents and business owners of Anne Arundel County maximum value for their tax dollar.
The mission of the Central Garage is to provide the highest quality, economically efficient, environmentally responsive, and safest fleet maintenance and fueling services to our intra-county user agencies that serve the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
The Central Garage is responsible for the repair and maintenance of over 4,400 vehicles and pieces of equipment.
This is routine manual and varied clerical work in stock handling and stores record keeping.
NATURE AND VARIETY OF WORK
Work involves the receipt, storage, maintenance, and issuance of supplies, materials, and equipment. Work may include the keeping of routine store records. Employees in this class may act as assistants to a senior storekeeper or other employees of higher rank or may be in charge of a small storeroom housing supplies of limited variety and volume. Duties frequently involve considerable manual and clerical work and may involve typing and delivery activities. Employees make minor decisions on work methods. Work is reviewed by a superior and through periodic inventory audits and monitoring work orders.
Examples of Duties and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
(Note: The duties and responsibilities enumerated in this class specification are for the purpose of determining a common set of minimum qualifications and salary level for all positions in this class. They are not intended to include all of the essential functions of all positions in the class.)
Receives, unpacks, stores, and issues goods/supplies, keeps stock in order, and makes deliveries as required.
Operates routine loading equipment; fills requisitions and wraps packages and boxes for shipment; assists in taking inventory.
Loading/Off-loading of purchase order (PO) materials delivered,
Checks the received PO deliveries and advises the supervisor on materials, noting any discrepancies, and inputting the information into the County's database system.
Prepares materials from "work-order" requests for end users in timely manner, and matches pulled items with "work-orders" to ensure accuracy.
Ensures that items are appropriately placed on shelves and racks according to their types/sizes.
Ensures that all materials stored are in good condition, reporting any damaged materials.
Ensures that all bin locations are clearly labeled and identified.
Ensures that similar stock categories are stored in adjacent bins as much as is reasonable.
Reports discrepancies with duplication of numbers, description differences, or other errors.
May operate routine office equipment in maintaining records and preparing reports and correspondence; processes mail.
Prepares and maintains routine records.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of store-keeping methods and practices and work hazards and precautionary measures.
Knowledge of purchase and requisition procedures.
Ability to make routine arithmetical computations and to keep routine records.
Ability to read and interpret equipment requirements from manuals, catalogs, and oral descriptions of use.
Ability to carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, storeroom clients, and vendor requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school; Six (6) months or more stock-keeping experience; Valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
Note: This is a Safety Sensitive position and employees in this position are subject to Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and Alcohol testing.
Note: Longevity pay is available based on years of service.
Note: Possible Night Shift Position - 3:30 pm - midnight
