Position Purpose/Summary:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for implementing statistical process control (SPC), statistical analysis, Lean Six Sigma principles, and process optimization to increase product quality and manufacturing efficiency. This role will focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous process improvements to support the development and sustainment of the X-ray Sources business unit in the final assembly and final test processes. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will also mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.

Essential Duties:

  • Utilize advanced knowledge to analyze manufacturing data to drive continuous improvement, reduce variability, and improve overall yield in the final assembly and final test process area.
  • Develop and implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor variation and changes in manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (pFMEA) to resolve production issues.
  • Work closely with the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering team to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA & 8D) based on data-driven insights and customer feedback.
  • Become a key contributor to Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and standard work (SW) initiatives to drive waste reduction and efficiency.
  • Use JMP statistical software to access raw data, organize the data, and then produce graphs and charts that communicate manufacturing yields and identify areas to focus continuous improvement efforts.
  • Oversee the performance of processes and tests, then document the results of the process or test.
  • Use problem solving and decision making tools to analyze a situation or data, then determine the best course of action.
  • Develop, edit, and maintain standard work combination sheets (SW), process flow charts, and value stream maps (VSM).
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on data analytics, statistics, and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Evaluate current processes and manufacturing systems to identify potential improvements, then be able to evaluate the return on investment (ROI) and risk associated with identified improvements.
  • Support the incoming quality assurance (IQA) team in resolving non-conforming report (NCR) action items and countermeasures.
  • Learn the basics of ultra-high vacuum (UHV) design and requirements, clean room operations, and machining technology.
  • Learn the basics of metal to ceramic brazing processes.
