Job description

Title: Staff Accountant


Reports to: Accounting Division Manager


Status: Full-time


Working Hours: 8am – 5pm – Hybrid Role after training 



Purpose of position: The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's financial integrity through accurate accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and audit support functions. This role contributes to the timely completion of month-end close activities, maintenance of internal controls, inventory and fixed asset accounting, and compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements. The Staff Accountant partners with operational and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial records, support business decision-making, and promote continuous improvement in accounting processes


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


1. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations. 


2. Prepare journal entries 


3. Support Accounting Division Manager and Accounting Supervisor


4. Assist Accounting Division Manager in variances between standard and actual production costs. 


5. Reconcile monthly physical inventory counts with ledger balances and manage obsolescence reserves.


6. Reconcile benefit invoices ensuring all deductions are captured and all expenses are recorded. 


7. Backup for posting accounts payable, and billing functions.


8. Track capital expenditures, manage fixed asset depreciation, and audit plant equipment records.


9. Prepare documents for Audits


10. Prepares intercompany offset letters


11. Support branch requests and process sales commissions


12. Any other duties as assigned. 



Position Requirements (knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform satisfactorily in the position):


  • At least 3 years of accounting or finance experience.
  • BS degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • NetSuite experience a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including V-lookup formulas and Pivot Tables 
  • Sales & Use Tax knowledge
  • Possess strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills and be a self-starter. 
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, listen, communicate (written and verbal), and follow-up effectively. 
  • Ability to work independently and perform at high levels in a fast-paced ever-changing work environment.
