Job Description

At ADGA, our teams support Government and industry partners on projects that protect critical systems and strengthen operational readiness. We are seeking a Modelling & Simulation Software Developer to develop scenarios and vignettes through modeling and simulation in AFSIM (Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modelling) to support tactical research at the RCAF Aerospace Warfare Centre (RAWC) in support of the Centre for Operational Research and Analysis (CORA) 

This posting is for an anticipated position expected to commence in mid-September. To accommodate the required security clearance process, we are accepting applications in advance. 

Key Requirements:  

  • Perform verification and validation of simulated scenarios to ensure fidelity and accuracy of modeled platforms. 
  • Analyze results of simulated scenarios to provide tactical feedback to stakeholders. 
  • Lead projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., developers, pilots, analysts) through the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC) for modeling and simulation of systems and software products. 
  • Gather user requirements, analyze software and hardware requirements, deriving and modifying existing functional requirements based on user input and feedback. 
  • Refactor ongoing and previous projects to align with best practices of software development, including reusability, documentation, and performance optimization. 
  • Utilize GitLab as a version control management tool for continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) 
  • Conduct regular code reviews and rigorous unit testing for development and integration of new software into existing codebases. 
  • Research the physics and aerodynamics of radar sensors, aircraft, weapons systems, etc. to model them using software with high fidelity. 
  • Create, test and modify code and software utilizing programming languages including C++ and Python to contribute to the development, integration, and maintenance of software applications in a modelling and simulation environment. 
  • All work is completed in Microsoft and/or Linux operating system environments. 
  • Design methods and procedures for small computer systems, and subsystem of larger systems. 
  • Produce forms, manuals, programs, data files, and procedures for systems and applications. 
  •  Analyze the problems outlined by the systems analysts/designers and collaborated on potential solutions intended to maximize efficiency while minimizing effects on existing systems. 
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of programs by preparing sample data and testing them by means of system acceptance test runs made by operating personnel. 
  • Correct program errors by revising instructions or altering the sequence of operations. 
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience as a software developer. 
  • 4+ years recent experience a modeling and simulation environment 
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics OR a College Technical Diploma related to Information Technology, Software Development, or Computer Science. 
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining simulation software. 
  • Experience programming graphics using OpenGL, Qt, or equivalent technologies. 
  • Experience developing software add-ons, extensions, or plug-ins. 
  • Proficiency designing, coding, testing, and debugging applications using C++, C, or C#. 
  • Experience integrating, testing, and troubleshooting software applications. 
  • Experience evaluating and integrating software products into Modelling & Simulation applications. 
  • Experience developing test plans, test procedures, and technical test reports within a Modelling & Simulation environment. 
  • Experience working within an Agile software development environment. 
  • Experience contributing to one or more projects delivering software solutions for military or defence applications. 
  • Experience utilizing and configuring Computer Generated Forces (CGF) applications. 
  • Experience developing and integrating software using Unity, Unreal Engine, Unigine, Delta3D, or equivalent simulation/game engines. 
  • Experience developing applications that interoperate using applicable simulation or military protocols and standards. 

Additional Information
  • Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance VCR and Controlled Goods clearances.
